Korçë Tours cover one of southeastern Albania's most distinctive cities, set on a highland plateau near the borders with Greece and North Macedonia. Long known as a center of Albanian education, Korçë opened the country's first Albanian-language school in 1887, and its wide boulevards and grid-planned streets still set it apart from Albania's older Ottoman towns.
Many pair a Korçë visit with the surrounding highlands, including the historic village of Voskopojë and Lake Ohrid to the east, as part of a broader southeastern Albania route. The city itself is compact enough to explore on foot in a day.
Old Bazaar and City Center
Korçë's Old Bazaar preserves a stretch of stone-paved streets and traditional shopfronts near the city center, while the Resurrection Cathedral, rebuilt in the 1990s after being demolished under communist rule, anchors the modern boulevards around it. The National Museum of Medieval Art holds one of Albania's largest collections of Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons, drawn from churches across the southeast of the country.
Local Traditions
The city is also home to Albania's oldest brewery, founded in 1928, and to a long-running summer serenade festival that celebrates local polyphonic singing traditions. The Museum of Education, housed in the building of the original 1887 school, traces the history of Albanian-language teaching. In the nearby village of Boboshticë, families continue a long tradition of producing raki from local fruit, part of the wider wine and spirits culture of the region.
Getting to Korçë
Korçë lies about 180 kilometers southeast of Tirana, a drive of roughly three and a half hours through the country's central highlands. The nearby mountain village of Dardhë operates a small ski area that draws visitors from Korçë during the winter months.
Day Trips from Korçë
Day Trips from Korçë commonly reach Voskopojë, a once-prosperous trading village in the mountains above the city known for its fresco-covered churches, as well as Lake Ohrid across the border area shared with North Macedonia.

Best Time to Visit Korçë
Sitting at nearly 900 meters above sea level, Korçë stays noticeably cooler than Albania's coastal cities, with warm but comfortable summers and cold winters that can bring snow to the surrounding mountains. Late spring and early autumn offer the most reliable weather for exploring the old bazaar and day trips into the highlands.
