The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a photographer’s paradise where the views from Poon Hill (3210m) are some of the most stunning in the entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. There are many soaring snow-covered peaks, such as Annapurna South (7219m), Machapuchare (6993m), Hiunchuli, Annapurna III, Dhampus peak and Dhulariri II. You will also enjoy visiting the Gurung and Magar villages where you will see and feel the genuine warmth of the locals while passing through the villages of Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk. The trails pass through lush green forests that are alive with beautiful white, pink and red rhododendron flowers (especially in spring) that make you constantly reach for your camera. This trek is perfectly suited for families whose goal is to obtain first-hand the magnificent mountain views without having to go through the acclimatization process necessary when taking treks to higher elevations. The trail heads through the Modi Khola Valley before coming to Tikhedhunga. If you want to enjoy the spectacular dawn views at Poon Hill and watch the sunrise on the Annapurna Ranges you will have to be up very early – before daybreak. There are superb 180 degree views of of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche (6920m), Dhampus, Nilgiri (2637m), Annapurna South (8091), Bhara, Sikhar and Machapuchare (Fishtail - 6993m). On the return trek to Pokhara we pass through the attractive Gurung village of Ghandruk with its customary style of houses with stone roofs - and an amazing mountain setting. This is an all-season trek.
