Tour Overview

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of Nepal’s most iconic and breathtaking Himalayan adventures, offering an unforgettable journey through lush rhododendron forests, charming Gurung villages, and awe-inspiring mountain landscapes. Nestled at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet), the base camp sits in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna I (8,091m)Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), and Hiunchuli.

This moderate-to-challenging trek typically takes 7 to 12 days, depending on the route and acclimatization needs. Trekkers follow well-maintained trails through diverse terrain, from terraced farmlands and bamboo groves to glacial moraines. Along the way, you’ll experience warm hospitality in teahouse lodges, soak in natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda, and witness stunning sunrises over the Himalayas from viewpoints like Poon Hill.

The best seasons for the ABC Trek are spring (March-May) for blooming rhododendrons and autumn (September-November) for clear skies. Whether you're an avid trekker or a nature lover, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek promises an extraordinary blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.

Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted at Tribhuvan International Airport and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you’ll have time to rest or explore the vibrant city. You can visit key sights like Thamel, a popular area for trekkers, or simply enjoy a leisurely evening in this bustling capital. The day ends with a briefing about your trek and final preparations for the journey ahead.

On this day, you’ll embark on a scenic 6-8 hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The route takes you through winding roads, picturesque villages, and lush landscapes, with views of the Trishuli River and the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll check into your hotel and can enjoy a relaxing evening by the serene Phewa Lake or explore the lively streets of Lakeside.

In the morning, you’ll drive from Pokhara to Ghandruk, a picturesque village known for its traditional Gurung culture. The drive takes about 3-4 hours. After reaching Ghandruk, you’ll start your trek toward Chhomrong, descending through terraced fields and lush forests. The trail offers stunning views of the Annapurna range. Once in Chhomrong, you'll settle into a teahouse for the night, with views of the surrounding peaks.

Today, you’ll trek from Chhomrong to Bamboo, a journey that takes around 5-6 hours. The trail descends into the Modi Khola Valley, passing through dense forests of rhododendrons and bamboo. As you continue, the landscape becomes more serene and remote, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Bamboo, located in a peaceful setting, will be your resting place for the night in a cozy teahouse.

On this day, you'll trek from Bamboo to Deurali, which takes about 4-5 hours. The trail ascends gradually through dense forests and passes through Hinku Cave. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes more alpine, with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Deurali, located at a higher elevation, offers spectacular views of the Annapurna range, and you'll stay in a teahouse for the night to acclimatize.

Today, you'll trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp, a challenging but rewarding 4-5 hour journey. The trail ascends through rocky terrain, crossing the Machapuchare Base Camp before reaching the stunning Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 meters). Once at the base camp, you'll be surrounded by towering peaks, including Annapurna I, Machapuchare, and others, offering a 360-degree panoramic view. This is the highlight of the trek, where you’ll spend the night in a teahouse, soaking in the majestic Himalayan surroundings.

Today, you’ll begin your descent from Annapurna Base Camp back to Bamboo, a trek that takes about 6-7 hours. The trail retraces your steps, passing through Machapuchare Base Camp and Deurali, gradually descending through rocky terrain and forested paths. As you lose altitude, the landscape changes, becoming greener and more lush. Bamboo is a peaceful stop to rest for the night after a rewarding day of trekking.

Today’s trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda takes about 5-6 hours. You’ll descend through lush forests and terraced fields, eventually reaching the village of Chhomrong. From there, the trail continues down to Jhinu Danda, where you can relax and enjoy the famous natural hot springs. After a long day of trekking, these hot springs provide the perfect way to unwind, soaking in the warm waters while surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

On the final day of your trek, you’ll trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul, which takes around 4-5 hours. The trail descends through scenic villages and forests, eventually reaching Nayapul, where you’ll be picked up for a drive back to Pokhara. The drive takes about 1 to 2 hours, offering a relaxing conclusion to your trek. Once in Pokhara, you can unwind, enjoy the lakeside, or celebrate the completion of your adventure.

On this day, you’ll drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu, which takes about 6-8 hours. The scenic drive follows the Prithvi Highway, passing through villages, terraced fields, and alongside rivers, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax, reflect on your trek, or explore more of the city before your departure.

On the final day of your journey, you'll be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. Depending on your flight time, you may have a bit of time to do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu before saying goodbye to Nepal and heading home, filled with unforgettable memories from your Annapurna Base Camp trek.
