The Navigli Canals

South of the center, the Navigli canal district keeps Milan's old waterway network alive with bars and restaurants along the water, busiest during the evening aperitivo hour. It is a different pace from the marble and glass of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele near the Duomo.

Trains from Milan reach Lake Como's lakeside towns in under an hour, making it a common day trip for travelers based in the city. Bellagio and Varenna, on opposite shores, are both reachable by ferry once there.
