Breakfast. Departure to the charming mountain town of Koprivshtita - – the cradle of the Bulgarian National Revival. The small colorful village hidden in “Sredna Gora” mountain is strongly related to the Bulgarian National Revival Period which happened in the 19th century. On one hand it was the home of many rich local merchants who built their traditional beautiful houses – the most famous of them are now working as museums and inside you will be able to see their authentic furniture and decoration and learn more about the life of the merchants back then. On the other hand – Koprivshtitsa was also the home of some of the most active Bulgarian revolutionaries who were fighting for an independent Bulgarian state (the Bulgarians back then were under Ottoman rule). In 1876 these revolutionaries started in Koprivshtitsa the “April Uprsing” which although was brutally crushed, was an important step towards the liberation. In Koprivshtitsa you will visit 5 or 6 house- museums and you guide will tell you in details about the important events that took place there. After that you will have free time for lunch.
