Las Lajas Sanctuary: The Second Wonder of Colombia

Las Lajas Sanctuary is considered the second wonder of Colombia. It is located about five hours from Quito.

Historically, this area was once part of Ecuadorian territory during the era of the Royal Audience of Quito.

Journey from Quito to Las Lajas

Leaving Quito early in the morning, we will drive through several towns and cities, including Cayambe, Otavalo, Ibarra, Valle del Chota, San Gabriel, and more.

At the Rumichaca Bridge, the international border, there is no formal process to cross. We simply switch cars—that’s all.

Visiting the Sanctuary

The sanctuary is just 20 minutes from the border. Upon arrival, we will visit both the sanctuary and the museum.
