It shares borders with Myanmar, Cambodia, China, Thailand, and Vietnam. The northern border with China is fairly mountainous, and Myanmar shares a portion of the Mekong River. The Mekong River, which flows across Laos for 1,500 km, dominates the western border. Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Bokeo Nature Reserve, and Wat Phu are its touristic treasures.
