A Stopover Built Around One Airport

Doha's Hamad International sits at the center of Qatar Airways' route map, which makes even a short layover long enough for a structured city tour before the next flight. The Corniche promenade, curving around the bay toward the glass towers of West Bay, gives a quick sense of how fast the skyline has grown.

Souq Waqif and the Pearling Past

The restored lanes of Souq Waqif trade in spices, falcons and textiles much as an older Qatari market would have, a contrast to the modern city around it. Further north, the ruins at Al Zubarah, a UNESCO site, recall Qatar's earlier life as a pearl-diving and trading town before oil changed everything.

Desert Time South of the City

An hour or so south of Doha, the dunes around Sealine make for an easy half-day of dune-bashing or an overnight desert camp, usually paired with a city itinerary rather than run as a trip on its own.
