Pamukkale, also known as Hierapolis, is a natural site located in western Turkey. It is famous for its hot springs and terraces of white travertine, a type of limestone, which have been created over thousands of years by the mineral-rich thermal waters flowing down the slopes of the nearby mountains. The terraces resemble a series of white, stepped pools and are a popular tourist attraction. Visitors to Pamukkale can take a dip in the thermal pools and soak in the waters, which are believed to have medicinal properties. The site is also home to the ancient city of Hierapolis, which was founded by the Greeks in the 2nd century BC and includes the ruins of a theater, a temple, and other structures. Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
