Daily Hakkari Cooking Lesson & Shopping Tour
Turkish cuisine is one of the most varied in the world. It is considered the third richest cuisine after French and Chinese gastronomy. However, in the West, this cuisine is not recognized enough, as it is often limited to the Döner Kebab! Turkey is a crossroads between Europe, Asia, and the Orient. This unique location combined with the migration of Turks from Central Asia to Europe has shaped the identity of its gastronomy over the centuries. Because of six centuries of Ottoman regional domination and the reciprocal influence between Turkey and its neighboring countries (Greece, Bulgaria, The Balkans, Irak, Syria Iran, Armenia…) is the reason why we find so many common dishes in those cuisines such as dolma, börek, kebab, mantı (Turkish ravioli), and so on.

Daily Van City Tour from Hakkari
Stone Gate, which belongs to the Urartu King Ispuini period, is one of the important sources that contain information about the Urartu religion. In the inscription on the door, all gods and goddesses blessed in the country of Urartu, daily lists of victims presented to them, and sacred mountains, rivers and cities are reported. There is also a sacrificial altar in the shape of a horizontal rectangle, carved into the rock, just in front of the niche where the inscription is located.

As the security problems had occurred in the past currently it is a developing tourism city, especially among outdoor and extreme sports enthusiasts. Zab River gives life to the region while it is a challenging rafting track, Mergabut Ski Resorts allows winter sports for 6 months of the year, and Cilo glacier mountain is a good zone for climbing and camping. Kayme Palace, Dutluca Belat Church, Seyh Bahal Mosque and Mausoleum, and Sidan Aqueduct are worth seeing historical sights of the city.
